Hopdoddy Burger Bar (Austin)

A/A+ (would be A+, but not a seamless GF experience)

I grew up in San Antonio and have visited all of the other major Texas cities many times, but it’s new for me to do it as a celiac. I recently went to Austin at the recommendation of a friend and tried Hopdoddy Burger Bar. When I say this was the best burger I have ever had in my life (EVEN PRE-CELIAC), you probably won’t believe me until you go there and try it yourself. Everything is made in-house. They use organic, grass-fed beef. They have homemade ice cream. They are aware of food allergies and made sure I was taken care of with my Celiac Disease, including a GLUTEN FREE BUN (make sure to tell them to heat it on the grill and not on the normal assembly line with the rest of the buns. I’m not going to pretend the bun tasted as good as a gluten-full bun, but it was really good, and I can’t remember the last time I’ve had a burger with a bun. But the main beauty of this place lies in the burgers. I think what made the burgers so amazing is that fact that everything is so fresh. The meat is ground in the back of the restaurant, so it’s incredibly moist, and all of their ingredients are very high quality. My mom and I ordered the “Magic Shroom” and the “Classic Burger” on GF buns and shared both (okay, well I ate all of mine and she just tried both) :) I am so glad that I got to try more than one, and I honestly can’t pick a favorite. They also have a dedicated frier. If you are ever anywhere near Austin, you NEED to check this place out. I’m posting more pics below just because I’m obsessed. The pic above is of the “Magic Shroom” burger. I’ve added some pics below: Classic Cheeseburger Pic of both “Magic Shroom” and “Classic” along with gluten free fries Gluten Free Happiness :)
