True Food (Santa Monica)

Rating: A+

I went here like a zillion times while I was in Santa Monica, so I have tried nearly the entire menu. I LOVE this place (although the pizza at both Z Pizza and Sammy’s in San Diego is better. Z Pizza by far the best) True Food is a great concept restaurant, with all of the recipes derived from Dr. Andrew Weil’s philosophy of healing foods. I found the one in Santa Monica to be just as good as the one in Orange County, although the locations of both are not stellar. Both are connected to malls, and with the ocean so close, it would be amazing to have them on the water. A girl can dream... :)

The Salad in the picture above was the Autumn Salad with squash, goat cheese, pomegranate seeds, and a bunch of other delicious add-ons. I added grilled salmon to it and I was so happy I did. I love when healthy food tastes amazing. I also tried the Kale and Roasted tomato pizza that night, but unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of it. That was good, but I definitely preferred the mushroom pizza below

Gluten Free Mushroom and Roasted Garlic Pizza

I really enjoyed this pizza. The roasted garlic really added a lot to the flavor of the entire pizza, and I loved all of the different types of mushrooms on top.

Carrot Raisin Muffin

This muffin was amazingly moist and densely packed with carrots and super-juicy raisins. I had to stop myself from eating the whole thing because I wanted to try everything else. It was also not too sweet but not too “healthy-tasting”. I would absolutely recommend it.

I went back the next day to try this gluten free brownie sunday, and it was so delicious. It tasted like there was coffee in it, but apparently that was just because there was a lot of raw cacao. I would definitely recommend it.
